Whether it’s a gritty survival game set in an alien-infested spaceship or a dark romance playing out in a lust-fueled magical university, your RPG can be fully customized to match your vision.

Here is a beginner’s RPG guide that demonstrates how to create an AI RPG using the example ‘Deadly Carnival RPG’. If you want to dive deeper, you can check out this Soulkyn RPG Persona Creation Guide. To spark some roleplay ideas, you can view our RPG category page here.

Getting Started: Creating Your First NSFW AI RPG

To create an RPG, hit ‘Create’ on the navigation bar. Then click on the ‘+ Create’ button. This will bring you to the ‘Create My Kyn’ form.

This is where things get interesting. Instead of filling out the tag fields for an individual Kyn, you’ll be using them to embed the setting, rules, and story logic of your RPG.

Character Name

Name of RPG

Physical Traits

We can use this field to define the general traits we want our NPCs to have. Keep it simple and save the details for later; broad tags will support multiple characters at once. For this section, you can choose traits from the following categories: age/body, features, art style, race hints.

For Deadly Carnival RPG, these tags define the physical traits of NPCs while reinforcing the setting’s tone, for example: diverse adult ages, smudged face paint, exaggerated grins, tattoos, and a dark surrealist art style.

If you need to refresh your memory on physical tags, you can check out our Character Physical Tags Catalog.

Personality Traits

The personality traits that you choose will define the atmospheric tone of your RPG. These tags will teach the AI not how one person acts, but how the entire RPG behaves.

For example, for Deadly Carnival RPG, the tags capture the mix of showmanship, danger, horror, and tension. Perfect for a dangerous carnival comprised of rival performers, massive egos, and the occasional murder.

Example tags: macabre humor, sadistic showmanship, multiple NPCs, deceptive, predatory, thrill-seeking, cruel irony, chaotic.

Identity & Kinks

Note: This section refers to the identity of the RPG, not individual characters.

This is the core of your NSFW RPG. In this section, we introduce the shared logic, universe themes, and rules you want your NPCs to follow. Each phrase should be self-contained, behavioral, and systemic. You can also list factions here, allowing the AI to distinguish groups by their personalities and rivalries.

For Deadly Carnival RPG, example tags include: favor-for-intimacy economy, lackey-to-legend arc, social-climbing gameplay, unfiltered dark romance, clowns vs tamers blood-feud, secret sexual favors, competitive performer rivalries.

Clothes Preset

The clothes preset refers to the generic costumes your NPCs wear. For this section, keep your tags plural, thematic, and do not include states of nudity. You can use these tags to build on the theme of your RPG. You can list uniforms, costumes, or general styles.

For Deadly Carnival RPG, the clothing tags support the theme of a treacherous, gothic carnival i.e., top hats, clown costumes, sequined leotards, frayed tailcoats, and ruffled clown collars.

You can find ideas for clothing on this handy Clothing Tags Catalog.

Location Preset

When it comes to your location preset, think big! You’re setting the scene for the entire RPG. So, envision your world and be descriptive. Soulkyn uses the best AI to interpret your descriptions. Simply set your location, describe the elements that support the theme of your RPG, and see what our AI can do.

In Deadly Carnival RPG, the setting is a simple Victorian carnival. The other location tags act as details to support the RPG world; creaking Ferris wheels, tattered striped tents, and flickering gas lamps all work to enhance the world.

Background Story

Don’t sleep on this section. The background story is where you can flex some real control and fine-tune your RPG.

Placement

Let’s start by setting your character in the RPG:

(Deadly Carnival is home to the best and most vicious circus performers the world has to offer. __USER_NAME__ is a new worker there.)

Player role

Now, give your player a reason to be there and outline their position:

__USER_NAME__ has started work at the bottom of the pecking order. As a lackey, __USER_NAME__ gets the worst tasks at the carnival; from cleaning out the elephant cages to making sure that the drunk clowns don’t choke on their vomit.

In location settings

You can expand your world with a list of settings within your RPG. This will give the AI other in-house locations to set the game. For Deadly Carnival RPG, the story locations are:

Blood-stained animal cages, rusted iron menagerie, muddy roustabout camp, silk-lined star trailers and a foggy mirror funhouse.

Factions

If you have warring factions, you can outline them here. You can give them brief descriptions, group behaviors, and list their rivals/allies. In Deadly Carnival RPG, the factions are:

Acrobats (elitist/vain), tamers (disciplined/hostile), clowns (sadistic/chaos), carnies (greedy/cynical), lackeys (disposable/desperate).

Game stats

Game stats allow you to keep track of your progress. Dynamic character stats ensure that the RPG tracks your position, earned rewards, and consequences. Because Deadly Carnival RPG has a strict social hierarchy that the player must climb to succeed, the stats look like this:

**__USER_NAME__ CHA Stats**

Rank: **Lackey**

Talent: **Firemancer**

Crowd appeal: **0**

Allies: **None (Unmarked)**

Enemies: **None (Unmarked)**

(Critical: Stats MUST stay consistent with RP and progression, previous example is also the starting stats)]

Response formatting

You can ensure the AI recognizes the correct way it should respond as an RPG with the following text:

[Important: Deadly Carnival RPG only responds as characters — never as “Deadly Carnival RPG” No AI system, no narration. Only dialog, let parenthesis text from __USER_NAME__ drive context. You’re the world, The RPG, all NPCs, etc… a ground for __USER_NAME__ to play with, never play __USER_NAME__.]

Dialogue formatting

You can format the dialogue to suit your needs. The following is an example of how to create a dialogue format:

[Important Format: All character lines begin with bolded names. Only actions wrapped in asterisks (*like this*). Max 3 NPCs per reply. If multiple NPCs are present they all speak/act.]

Inner monologue

If you would like to know your NPCs’ inner thoughts, you can use the following text to ensure the RPG displays their inner monologues:

[Core System, Critical: Every character line must be followed by a personalized, emotional, or competitive inner monologue.
Format:
**💭**: *[submission, lust, manipulation, rivalry, or emotion toward __USER_NAME__]*
Then add:
`Danger: XX%+/– │ Talent: YY%+/– │ Ally Link: ZZ%+/–`
All stats are character-specific.]

Chat examples

Don’t slouch on your chat examples, the best RPG games on Soulkyn feel alive because their creators instructed the AI on tone, pacing and conversation format. Think back to the personality traits you selected for your RPG. Your chat examples give you a chance to showcase those traits through dialogue and character dynamics.

Here’s a tip: write chat examples for single and multiple NPC dialogues, this will teach the AI how to handle dynamics in NPC interactions.
